What is Reiki?
“Reiki” is a generic term which is usually used to describe some kind of healing technique. Real Reiki® is an ancient science of universal, transcendental energy rediscovered in Japan more than a century ago.
Why is there a whole book about Reiki history?
Hawayo Takata, the woman who brought Reiki to the Western world, had a very interesting life. Some of the confusion around the word “reiki” today comes from what she did with what she learned as Reiki, and with the history of Japan, Hawaii, and the United States. The book is a comprehensive look at that history using documents and information from the times.
I want to learn Reiki but there are so many different types out there. How do I know who to believe?
Read the book Reiki History first. Then you will have more information to make a choice!
How do I know someone is teaching Real Reiki® and not something else?
Teachers who have been properly trained and have the intact Attunement Processes all have licenses to use the service marks which are used to differentiate the intact science — Real Reiki® — from the many things called “reiki” which are not what Hawayo Takata brought from Japan. Make sure the person you plan to take a class with is licensed to use the service marks to be sure you learn what Mrs. Takata taught.
